I made a large rail fence quilt and my mistake was putting thick batting in it. It was too bulky to quilt on my machine so I tied it which I almost never do. First time my son threw it in the washer, the quilt and the machine got in a big fight an now I need to go back and do a better job of tying and not let him wash it. Other than that, it turned out great!

I made my daughter a crazy quilt using corduroy, velours, lace, and leather. Embellished it with embroidery and lace and detachable metal figures. It really turned out nice looking. My son is now requesting one without lace.

I've used a lot of it. I just cut it into 6.5" squares and make a quilt. If you use flannel for the backing you do not need batting as it would be too heavy. I usually just tie these quilts instead of quilting it.

This is especially true for kids who are bedridden for a length of time. The texture variance makes their environment richer. I am collecting flannels, corduroy and other textured materials to use for some of my charity quilts. Think of how important a quilt like that would be for a visually impaired child.

I just "inherited" about 3-4 yards of beautiful corduroy and had no idea what to do with it. Thanks for asking this question. Never thought of using it as the back of a quilt.

I am so glad that I asked my question. It appears that it is not only helping me, but others as well, which makes me very happy.

I wondered about using it as a rag quilt with denim but was not sure how it would work. Thanks for your help.
