I just paid $42 for clean and oil service for a Bernina in northern Indiana. Mennonite store owner - very reasonable!

In my area it depends on who you take it. The sew n vac charges 50.00, the quilt store's guy is 85.00 and the sewing machine dealer starts at 129.00.

Best to just call the shop you are considering and ask what they charge. Seems they all charge different amounts. I have one that the basic, clean oil, tune up starts at $40, if issues are found you get a call.

My mechanical machine is around $43 to $45. He is very old school as he totally cleans the entire machine. If he finds something major he calls.

I've been taking my vintage machines to the Singer Factory Distribution store in Chicago. The service bill when I picked up my Singer 201K yesterday was $109. That included a complete tune, rewiring the motor and foot controller, replacing the light assembly, new LED bulb, new belt, cleaning/oiling, and adjusting the timing, and rebuilding the tension assembly. I've been taking my vintage machines here for a while. Their service is fantastic with a 6 month warranty on all work done. The machines sew like brand new after this.

$75 for my Baby Lock Ellisimo. It's a half price amount. Every summer the store has a 50% discount.

The last service charge was $150 for the computerized machine and embroidery module. It took 6 weeks. There is a Bernina dealer in Amish country that charges $150 + $40 for a one day service.

Our local shop charges $70 for a full service on any brand, computerized or mechanical. That usually includes everything but parts. If it needs a part, we'll call.

If someone brings in a machine that's less than $100 brand new, we try to fix it on the spot and not charge anything. Usually it's just a needle in backwards or the wrong bobbin, or tension adjustment -- something simple. Usually they're less experienced sew-ers on their first sewing machine.
