Hi, and have you noticed over the last few years that the fabric is getting smaller? I was looking over some older quilt magazines and they called for 44/45 inch wide fabric. Now you are lucky to get 40 inches of usable fabric per yard! Sorry, just get upset when another thing goes up in price but you end up with less! Take care

Check out Marshall Dry Goods. Their prints are usually $3.99 yard, some solids $2.99, batiks $4.99

Another good sale site is Today's Quilting; click the drop down menu and you'll see them

I've gotten good quality and service from both.

Check the commodoties prices. Cotton was way down, so many of the cotton farmers in our area opted for planting soybeans and corn instead. That means cotton prices will go up because of shortage of supply. Funny thing is that once the prices go up for yard goods, they never go down again when the cotton crop supply improves.

This makes me so sad. I will try to build up my stash but it will have to be from thrift shops etc. Before I started sewing again, I remembered patterns being about $3 each. When I looked for the first time about a year ago they were $16!!!! Thank goodness for the sales. Quilt fabric is so expensive as it is. Most are $9 per yard or more. I couldn't believe the prices in Australia. You girls are real troopers to continue quilting with those prices.

Hey, just use up some ol' dresses or blouses or drapes... like our Grandmothers and GGMs used to do! Reduce Reuse Recycle, esp. when our fixed incomes don't rise with the rates of cotton and everything else! Let's be practical!

    More good news - thanks!!!

I'm actually going to an inventory sale tomorrow a.m. for a quilt shop here locally that recently closed. I don't have a wad of cash, but will hopefully be able to come away with some fabric that's going to be $3 a yard.

All the more reason to have a well stocked stash at all times! I'm sure batting will be going up as well.
    Kind Regards,
