Coud someone explain what "reverse applique" is?

It is applique where you cut the bottom fabric instead of cutting the top fabric as usual, in the shape of the applique.

In 'regular' applique, you take a shape, ie. a heart..cut it out...and attach it to background fabric by hand or machine..
In 'reverse' applique, you cut out the shape...ie a heart... from the top layer and you will have another layer of fabric underneath...so the applique fabric is on the bottom...make sense?
There are many tutes on you tube and other places..

Years ago I made a superhero Halloween custom with logo.
I layered three fabrics and stitched all the logo lined.
Then I carefully cut away the extra layers until the logo was visible.
Custom with logo was used often and lasted until outgrown.
