I'm quilting some quilts for DH's aunt and I need to do some FMQ in the borders and I think that it would look best with the whimsical stippling, where the lines cross, swirl and loop. However, I don't have a stencil for that on hand. So, I was wondering if you could share some of you pics of the FMQ that you've done. If I examine some of the pics, I think I'll be confident enough to mimic it. Thanks!

I do all of my FMQ freehand, so when you say whimsical swirls, here are a few things I've done that I consider 'whimsical'.

I hope you can see the quilting in these pictures! :)

Or, have you checked out 501 quilting motifs? That book has some great designs!

I did these on the border of a baby quilt. I did several lines in 4 or 5 different colors.

What a great thread! Can't wait to see more. I have the ability, but lack inspiration sometimes, too.
