I would be honored if they used my quilt for a decoration! I'm sure if they needed it for a quilt, it would be used as a quilt. I think Gayle is right, hopefully when the child is a bit older it will get used as was intended.

While we cannot tell people how to use the wonderful works of art that we create, I know that hanging your quilt is an enormous compliment. Take it for the love and honor they have shown you. Eventually it will be hugged, loved and drug through the mud just like you intended. For now it is a sense of pride and a beautiful backdrop for the baby!

I am sure they meant it as an honor, but I am thinking I would still feel like I wanted the little one dragging it around behind him.

Sweet....they obviously love it. Don't worry one day it will be used to cuddle up in. Or maybe you could make him a "drag around"....some people just need to get used to quilts and their purpose.

Did you tell them that it was ok for it to be used? And that if it gets all worn out that you wouldn't be upset? Some people are afraid to use homemade gifts because then they might ruin it. Or worse yet ruin it and upset the giver.

Just feel honored that they appreciated it so much they chose to hang it up. So many people don't appreciate our quilts that when I hear of someone who obviously did I feel great. Smile knowing they really love it.

Either way it is loved - and that is what matters.

It makes me smile though remembering all the things I meant to do before I actually had kids. It's funny how a 2 year old can ruin all your ideas. Things I was going to put up for later are now well worn and obviously loved items because somebody found them hiding in the back of a closet. And now that they are 5 and 6!! Forget it!! They see it, they love it, there is no prying it from their little sticky fingers!!!
