I used a basic pattern that I googled, but then changed quite a bit. For the little ones, I folded the bottom of the towel up to make a large pocket, cut off the finished bottom edge and used binding. I sewed seams down the pocket in various places to make the pocket dividers. I bound the armhole edges and left the binding long for neck ties. Then I put ties on the sides too. And I put a small pocket made from the binding material in the middle on the chest area. If you use cheap towels they don't hold up but if you use a really expensive one it's too thick to sew through easily. I use terrycloth towels. Hmm, a picture. I don't think I have one at the monent, I'll have to look.

Try a chef's hat, kids and adult sizes. Last night I made a draft-stopper for my front door. Simple to make a tube about 40" long, fill with sand. I used duck tape (comes in several deco colors & designs now) to seal the end. My plan is to cover the liner with a vinyl casing, but I didn't have heavy duty needles last night.

Another nice, easy to make item - log carrier for bringing firewood into the house. I use heavy-weight canvas,cut a rectangle, hem on 4 sides (or another option: instead of hemming, double the canvas and stitch around edges,even quilt it if you want). Then add carry handles of folded canvas strips (2 of them, about 1 1/2" wide by 12" long each). Be sure to reinforce the seams where handles are attached. The carrier dimensions should be length of firewood (about 18") by 40" or so. Make it big enough to carry 6 logs or so.

Crib quilts and lap throws (good for wheel chairs & baby strollers).

Correction to log carrier design. I made the handles long enough to wrap all the way around the carrier for added durability. Make one long strap length of carrier + 25" by 1 1/2" finished size. Sew the ends together, overlapping 1" and reinforcing. Measure 3" from outer edges of carrier. Mark in a continuous line the 40" length of carrier Place outer edge of straps along the line. The total space between the straps (side to side) will be about 9". Stitch straps to outside of canvas rectangle, leaving "handle" of equal lengths (12")on each end. Display one filled with firewood or kindling.
