Someone asked about responding to Craigslist posted emails. I thought I would post what I sent her. Please read about email safety and your cell phone too. I am using the post about the $1.50 fabric in Lexington, KY as the example.

When replying to a CL posting by email, right click on the posted email and copy shortcut then go to your opened email ready to put it in and then right click-paste- into your recipient line (that who you are sending it to). It will show up like this
    mailto:[email protected]?subject=Loads%20of%20100 %25%20Cotton%20Quilt%20Fabric%20%20-%20%242%20(Lexington)&body=%0A%0Ahttp%3A%2F%2Flexington.craigslist.org%2 Fart%2F2582801322.html%0A

Then get pare it down to this:
    [email protected]

One thing that I would suggest (especially if you set up your email address before we knew so much info can be gleaned from it) is get a new email just for Craigslist responses and use just your initials or a sewing nickname to set it up. And if you want them to call you- use your cell #- and set up your cell VM with just first name. That way you have made it safer to reply to Craigslist postings.

Good stuff. I have bought many things on Craigs list and I always meet them some place busy like Target or Walmart parking lot. If they need me to come to their house I just don't buy it unless it's a big item then I take along one or 2 friends

I've only purchased a couple of things from Craigslist. Both times I've used the email I use for online orders, etc. - not my regular email. I also always use my cell phone. I always offer to meet the person in a public place. The one time I had to go to someone's home but made sure I was outside (on the busy street) the entire time. Not only for my own safety but for theirs.

I always take someone with me, plus I text where I am going to someone that is not with me, and who is with me. I usually meet at a parking lot some where but had to go to someone's home once when we were buying a pool table for the kids.

    Stay safe out there.

I have had a sewing machine posted on craigslist for about a month now and I keep getting these really strange inquiries.. " How much for the motorcycle?" Your bottom dollar?. I do not even respond to these. I figure if someone wants to really know about it I would get a decent email asking real questions.

Your advice is a good idea...
