Here's the crazy quilt I made for my first grandson. Couldn't do the lace, beads, and the other frilly stuff but I still managed to include a few traditional CQ embroidery motifs - key, tree, butterfly, sun and moon - on the cotton fabrics...

I takes me a good 3-4 months to make one 15 inch block. I have completed 7 and have 5 to go. Do not know about entering in a show.

    Gabbystabber,

I am not a crazy quilter but I do have plans to make one very large CQ before my life is over. You mentioned that you keep the stitch instructions in front of you as you work and I wondered if there are certain books you would recommend that may be better than some others. I have purchased two that have turned out to just be catalogs of the stitches but no instructions on how to execute the stitches. It's so hard to buy books online!

Your work is beyond amazing and I thank you for taking the time to show these lovely to us.

I love to look at old quilting books and I have saved out pages of embroidery stitches. I love the older books as I think there are stitches on some of them you don't see used today. I have a couple of pages posted on my wall so I can refer to them when I want to use them.
