Has she selected the fabric for her and/or bridesmaids dresses? Are her colors any that would work for the quilt as in amma's suggestion? What are her favorite colors? Are they ones that would work as in amma's suggestion? I also like the colors amma mentioned.
The blocks are just so beautiful!

I vote for yellow. It's a little less expected than pink, and would be gorgeous. A pale yellow...

Her favorite color is yellow and the bridesmaids dresses are sage green.

I am really liking your suggestions. You have my brain working. I have thought about applique but I don't want to over power the embroidery. I could draw something on plain white and ask Mom to do some more embroidery. She's 90 and spends most of her day just embroidering. We are so thankful she still has her eyesight and all of her faculties.

Beautiful work! I'm concerned about using pink if it is meant to be used in the master bedroom. Most guys aren't that fond of pink and I would hate for this lovely piece to end up unused. I would stick with shades of green and maybe some yellow as an accent. Tone on tone white would be nice too. I like the idea of a wall hanging as suggested by others. It would be easier to use.

I would go with white on the trim and a pale pale green, you don't want it too girly or new hubby might not want it around. guys can be funny like that. I think that if you just go solid white and ask your dm to embroider some strips of white with green leaves or ivy that would work wonderful with the blocks. But that is just me. and for the quilting I would do white thread and do leaves for a pattern. hope that this helps.

How large do you want the finished quilt to be? Do you want a bed quilt, wall hanging or lap quilt? This would fit a quieen-sized bed, and has room for more applique work in the inner border and carrying the heart motif into the outer border in the large squares

    layout for 97" square quilt

Also use some pale yellow & scalloped borders! Your DM does beautiful embroidery work!
