Cut Charm Squares - What were they for?

Being new to this forum (& quilting) & after reading many of your ideas and solutions...I am convinced there are MANY intelligent people here ! Thank you for keeping ever inspired and motivated.

I just received a large pile of charm squares that were cut on a diagonal. At first, I thought they were just scraps left from some project but as I started looking, I realized they were really charms. They also mostly appear to be from the same fabric line.
I don't have a wide ranging experience with different types of quilts. Can anyone suggest what the original owner's intent might have been with these?

The ones I received are already cut so I can't get into too much trouble with those. And the background I'm using can go either way. It looks as though I have about 30 of these - not enough for a quilt, but I do have a lot of other charm squares lying around so I hope to come up with something. These would be cute worked into a quilt back, too.
Looking good!

I am having fun with these blocks. I did mess up the first two because I was trimming the individual squares before I sewed the whole thing together. I'm tired of resizing photos for the QB plus I'm never too sure what order they are going to post, so I put a photo update on Flickr with comments to show what I messed up and how I corrected. Hope you like them.
