Mine is looking pretty sad too. I was thinking about replacing it but will probably try washing or re-covering. I don't use the lines for much except keeping a straight edge while pressing. When I compared the measurement with my rules they were off by quite a bit.

Do you have one of the tracing wheels? It looks like a pizza cutter with teeth. I cut fabric about 2" bigger then the ironing pad and then use the tracing wheel to roll the excess between the cutting mat and ironing side. It works great. Now all I have to do is pull the cover off and change it out whenever I like. I use pretty fabric. Using thin muslin you can still see the lines from the original cover and have a clean surface.

Thank you, thank you, thank you, BellaBoo!!! What great timing! I plan to go to The Quilters' Hall of Fame quilt shows and classes this week in Marion, IN and want to take my new board with me. It is still in the plastic covering to keep it clean. I will make a cover like you said and use my tracing wheel, if I can fond it from way back wen I made clothes, and put the new cover on it today!!! You made my day with the suggestion. Later I'll cover my old board and make it 'as good as new!' Thanks again!!

I covered mine too. I used that shiny silver ironing board fabric and a layer of cream colored fabric that I had in my stash. I like it better than the original. Think it makes things crisper when I press them.

Thanks!!! I might just take the fabric and the little wheel up with me and see if Joann's up there has the ironing board fabric and put some of that on first. I can cut my fabric and have it ready to put on when I get the silver fabric. thanks for your suggestion too, lots2do. I appreciate all the help I'm getting now. Rather than trying to wash my old board AGAIN, I might just cover it too. It can be my 'at home grunge board' and the new one, since I've already gotten it (at Joann's with a coupon, no less) can be my 'take to class' one.

I took my cut and press board with me to The Quilters' Hall of Fame Celebration and covered it while I was there in Marion,IN. I just used the ironing board cover material on it, and it worked great. I also told others about how I did it. so I just want to thank all of you that had such great ideas of how to keep my new board clean. Now to cover my old one and make it look like new too. I had thought of trying to wash it again, but this does work better. Thanks again.

I have bought 3 of these and they would get so dirty I was afraid to use it when sewing white. I finally made a cover from unbleached muslin that I can take off and wash. The muslin is thin enough that the lines show through for measurements. Works great!
