I actually like the cutting,it sniceto get everything starched, pressed and cut so that I know everything should fit and come together nicely. I do it inbetween other household chores etc.... of course some days are better than others for getting it done!!!

Cutting is my favorite part of the whole process. It was always that way with sewing garments, too.

You're not the only one. It's definitely not the fun part of the process for me.

I don't mind cutting, but it's not my favorite part of the quilt making process. OTH, I love taking my small scraps and turning them into precuts using my sizzix big shot pro and the accuquilt dies. Using the die cutter, I can make piles of 2" squares really fast, and it's sort of like instant gratification to see a huge pile of scraps get turned into something ready to use in a scrappy quilt.

I used to precut everything until I miscalculated and cut double the amount I needed for HSTs. That led to me "having" to do a complete second project. So now I precut for a few blocks, then sew those blocks. It breaks up the monotony for me.

Like Tartan and MadQuilter, I cut until I am tired of cutting, then I sew until I need a break, back and forth to until I'm finished. I love every aspect of it, I just don't like the monotony of doing one thing for too long.

What I don't like about cutting:
    1. I constantly worry about making a mistake. I can't unpick a cutting mistake.

    2. My hand hurts after while even though my rotary cutter has a sharp blade.

    3. My feet and back hurt from standing.

    4. I can never relax in the process because the rotary cutter or ruler or both might slip if I am not totally vigilant.

What I do like about cutting:

    1. I like that sigh of relief when I am finished.

I cut all fabric for the quilt in mind, all at one time. I have these small tubs I use for each project, all of my pieces in that one tub with one square completely finished so I know what pattern these cut pieces will be for. Yeah, I'm kinda an organized quilter - limited time in life so I have to have things ready to go. I know others who dislike cutting fabric, I'm not one of those as I like the variety of change.

You are definitely not alone in this. I find it difficult to clean off the table so I can set the fabric properly. I hate it when I cut strips and there is a curve in the strip. Its just not fun !

I am in the pile of quilters that like every step of the craft...until I get a designated quilting room, I have to set up my larger mat on the dining room table or kitchen counter therefore, I usually cut the entire project so that I can clear my stuff when finished. I have a small rotating mat that I leave on my ironing space in case I need to cut small pieces.
