I just bought fabric for a D9P (browns, rusts, oranges, burgandies and a leopard print - all requested by recipient.) I had looked at patterns for weeks and couldn't come up with anything but D9P, using the leopard print only as the center block. Hope you don't mind, but I think I will Slice & Dice it also. Love your quilt!!!

The fabric was cut; the original blocks were done. I knew I could put it together and I'd always be less than thrilled with it. I either had to be creative or I'd never want to use it. Okay, I get it now. I had to draw it out on paper to see where you cut and then went back to the picture of it laid out, to get it straight in my head. But I got it now. So you stitched it first into a nine patch, then cut it across the middle both ways, from side to side. Then cut twice across each corner section diagonally. Right?

I really like the new design you've come up with. On-point designs are so much more exciting IMHO. I wouldn't add fillers, because it would break up the on-point squares that are formed when you sew the blocks together. If you want the quilt to be bigger, how about making more D9Ps from the original FQs. I agree with others who have said that a dark border would make your great design pop.

You could add just one border and still have it be a good throw or single size if you wanted. I love the d9p pattern. Have you seen the new d4p version. I haven't made it but like how it looks and so simple too. :)
