I have wanted to do the Dear Jane quilt, but have been unable to find the book. I am wondering however why the Dear Hannah book is so expensive on Amazon. What is the difference between the two? Thanks for the input on this.

The Dear Jane is a quilt that was made during the civil war , the book shows all the separate blocks and is still widely available- the Dear Hannah is fashioned after the Dear Jane by Brenda Papadakis and the book is no longer being published

Get the computer software. That way you can print the block patterns right off your computer and make them the size you want. The book and the software are both expensive but worth it.

Amazon has the Dear Jane book for $24, but the CD seems to have got expensive.

Make sure that your computer will work with the CD - as far as I could tell, it was not Mac friendly.

As was already noted, the Dear Hannah (DH) book is out of print, so its price has gone up (supply & demand). However, the AQS has issued an electronic version of the book that is very inexpensive ...

Also, Brena Papadakis' "Dear Hannah: Quilt Design Software" is on sale for ½ of its regular price at the AQS website. AQS Members get an additional $2.49 off of that low price.

If you've ever considered doing this quilt, now is a good time to get this software.

Please note, that this is NOT standalone software. It requires:
EITHER Electric Quilt (EQ) 5, 6 or 7
    OR Dear Jane (DJ) software.

It looks like now is a good time to start a DH quilt :-)

The Software requires MS Windows (XP or later).

However, one can install Windows in a virtual machine on a Mac via Parallels or VMWare Fusion, both of which are separately purchased products. I am using VMWare Fusion.

Alternatively, one can install Windows natively on an Intel based Mac using Bootcamp (comes with OS X).

You might try Amazon.com . I got both book and CD for $50. Please get the CD if you are going to make DJ . Also look at thatquilt.com web site it saved a lot of tears for me. Good luck.
