My baby sister lost her husband last January a few days after their anniversary. She and her father in law are having a difficult time with it and asked me to make them quilts from his shirts. I’ve never done one, but for her, I’d do anything to help her smile again. I think the poems are lovely and think I’ll steal your ideas, if that’s acceptable?

I wrote this poem that I put on for quilts I made for my siblings and aunts from my mom’s clothing when she passed away:
When you’re sad and feeling blue
And you are missing me,
Wrap up in this cuddle quilt
And I’ll be close, you see.
For I am with always,
Every minute, every day -
I may be up in Heaven now,
But in your heart I’ll stay.

Thanks, Meyert! It took me a while to come up with it - it had to be the perfect poem to describe what my mom would say to us. Glad it’s meant so much that you’ve used it on your quilts, too!

The poem from Little House on the Prairie was actually written by Michael Landon for Patricia Neal. It was read again at Mr. Landon's funeral by Melissa Gilbert. Here it is:
