Depends on what you want. The blocks don't create much of a secondary pattern and they're rather busy together. If you want busy, no sashing. If you want more of a calm state, use sashing. But I would sash around each block. Sashing the quadrants would create a secondary "plus sign" that would stand out more than the blocks, and not be as interesting as the blocks. I would want the sashing to be as wide as the strips you used.

    Pretty quilt.

I am not a fan of wall hanging quilts They are great but there are only so many walls that can accommodate them. My DIL is visiting today and I just took a large quilt out to the porch to throw over the back of the big wooden glider for her. She said "I love visiting a quilter!" which made my day. The versatility of a larger quilt is unmatched. IMNSHO.

No sashing! It would disrupt the pattern for me.

I am firmly in the no sashing camp, the secondary patterns look good w/o it. As to size that depends on if you have a use for the larger size, or a plan, or how tired you are of sewing the same blocks.

Was the candy you're thinking of called "Cherry Mash" ?

I too vote for no sashing and would add the 2 extra blocks so it could be used as a wall-hanging or runner. the current size though could be used for a wall-hanging also or table topper. actually i might prefer that with simple, calming border(s).

I like it without, the secondary pattern that makes the diamonds is great.

Since it's for a wall-hanging swap, could you ask your swap partner what space they have to accommodate it? (I'm sorry I'm not familiar with that swap, if it's the kind of thing that's all-surprise or if there's communication between known partners.) If they have the room, I'd upsize it. If not, I'd finish it as-is.

My vote is also for no sashing. The subpatterns are really evident when the blocks are together. Your quilt looks really cool!

No matter how you do it it will be lovely. Thanks for the name of the pattern. BrendaK
