I live near Canada (in Maine). I am glad to know about this. I am DONE with Canada!
It was a US customs agent that forced a Canadian citizen to deface her quilts before entering the United States for Quilt Market. Get your facts straight before attacking good neighbors.

A big show Like Houston should organize a special display for that artist quilter with the defaced quilts and make a lot of publicity around it. Tv and newspapers should be alerted. In Quebec we have a small town sitting on the border, called Derby LIne.The border pass in the public library. The U.S. Customs moved their garrets a few miles further and the people have to present their passports after a detour to go to church, do their shopping or visit friends, They create terror instead of fighting it.

Oh my gosh that is terrible. One should carry a disappearing ink pen with them just in case this happens. That is unbelievable.

ABSOLUTELY PERFECT IDEA. I will do that right now. Bill O is my preference, but both will do a good job with this one!

It was the American border guard who was at fault, not the Canadian. The quilter should report this to US Customs. The whole matter is unacceptable, and the original art is ruined.

Yes, yes Yes, I think I would have had to choke a custom agent or two for that incident. Might send it to Greta or Hanity as well any of them would do a great job, perhaps even Geraldo, he definitely would get in the act.

This is so heartbreaking. That guy was just flexing his muscles & showing you who's boss. I hope he slept poorly that night.
