Back in October I wrote about some fabric I purchased in a shop in South Dakota that was a yellow and orange batik. I discovered blue splotches of color thru the fabric. I called the shop and they called me back and told me that the whole bolt was that way and that is what a batik is. They gave me the design , color and manufacturer info. I wasn't happy with that answer so I contacted the manufacturer. The manufacturer got back to me and said that they went to their warehouse and discovered that the fabric was flawed. They sent me a new piece of fabric without the blue splotches. I was very pleased with the customer service from this manufacturer. I gave them the name and location of the shop. Do you think I should contact the shop and tell them or just let it be between them and the manufacturer from this point on?

I absolutely fell in love with that shop when I was in there. I am thinking that she really believed what she was saying about the fabric. I agree that I have done all that I need to do. If I am ever there again, I would still go in that shop. I might be a little more observant of the fabric when it was being cut, though.

If it were me, I'd contact the shop. One, so that they would know and could take steps with the manufacturer and two, because they really didn't do right by you in the customer service department. Since you have the manufacturer backing you up, it's not like you were being difficult. You KNEW something was wrong. I'm sorry that they couldn't see it that way, but in their defense, the whole bolt was like that so it may be they couldn't think any further than that.

I would think I would want to let the shop know because they may have recourse with the manufacturer. It is defective fabric and they probably paid full price. If I was a shop owner, I think I would want to know about a refund I may be entitled to and didn't know.

I too would say to kindly contact the shop. I'd hate for other customers to get a defective fabric if I knew about it. It's not the shops "fault" the fabric was flawed. Glad you were able to get to the bottom of it and get it corrected.
