I want to make a design wall, but have a fairly small sewing room. Could someone send pictures of their wall and suggest a good solution to make one? thank you.

The flannel table cloth works great. I just tried it myself.

My friend has a small area to quilt in. She put up quilt hangers and then uses flannel table cloths - she hangs them, uses them and then takes them down. When she is working on a quilt she will hang it (or pieces of it) from the same hangers so she gets double duty.

I have used the flannel tablecloths too but mostly just for temporary stuff like at a retreat or class.

My sewing room is small... its only about 9' x 10'. I bought some very wide flannel, hemmed the ends and then just stappled it to the wall behind my sewing machine. It covers the whole wall.

When I needed a larger space for a big quilt, I found a king size flannel sheet at a discount store. I stappled it also to the wall in my guest room. Whenever someone stays over, they always look forward to what might be on the wall of 'their' room.

How about a roll up window shade covered with flannel?

I tacked a large piece of batting on the wall in my hallway across from the bathroom. It's the only spot in the house that is free from doors, windows, or furniture. Sometimes the location comes in handy - I can sit on the "throne" and let the quilt speak to me!

I have to share that originally, I used a flannel-backed table cloth, but it was nowhere near large enough. Then I used a flannel sheet, but the blocks would fall off if someone walked by, or the dog whacked the wall with his tail, or the block was too big and heavy. I finally got smart and upgraded to some cheap cotton batting. It is very "sticky", almost like velcro, and I haven't had anything fall off it yet.

I used poster board and flanneled it. I use 2 of them. Since I got the largest sizes they had. When I'm finished I pick them up and put them away.

That's what I have over my closet door and I glued clothespins to the top frame over the door.
