Have you thought of using less I spy blocks and putting an alternating hourglass block in between your blocks. Go to post #942 in the thread: Rest and Refreshing BOW Civil War Sampler Quilt

Thanks, everyone. I love all the suggestions. I'll probably use them all, as I love making I spy quilts. Given I've been participating is swaps regularly, I have plenty of squares. I'll post when it's finished.
