My husband put 2 one by's on the wall approx. 4' apart, top and bottom. We then got 2 ceiling tiles, 2' by 4' and put them upright in between the one by's. it works perfect. You can stick pins in it, or you can cover them with flannel. Either way, they are great. We used a small round felt piece, meant for bottom of chairs to hold at top. Easy to pull off if you need to turn around.

I have 2 4'x8' sheets of 1 1/2" thick foam board covered with flannel. Works great, but the first one I had was only 1" and it worked just as well. I started with a 4' wide piece but wanted to go wider when we moved into our new house. I made the mistake of taking DH shopping with me and he insisted I should go thicker. The white foam 1" thick 4'x8' was only $7 each and would have been perfect.

I have a few (about 3) design walls if you will. I use the flannel back tablecloths with the grids. I have the skirt/pant hangers attached. Sometimes I put them on top of my bed or I have a couple cup hooks that I can hang them on against one of the hall walls. When I'm done working or what ever with them all I need do is roll/fold them up and hang them up in the closet.

Styrofoam insulation boards are not very expensive. I put 2 on one wall in my sewing room, and covered them with batting. I love it

The room where I sew now had no available wall space for a design wall, but a closet with 2 sliding doors. I covered the closet doors in felt and it has worked out great for a design wall. Soon I will be moving into a different room of the house which has the space for a design wall. But I decided I didn't want to use up that large wall space with the design wall, so I'm covering the closet doors again. I think this time I'm going to use flannel though.

Just keep a can of spray adhesive at hand. You may need to spritz it once in a while if you want to display a lot of blocks to figure out an arrangement.

I use the 1" insulation that comes in 4'x8' sheet. When I bought them, they cost around $8.00 each. Check both Lowe's and Home Depot.

The business that my son works for was remodeling their cubicles, so he gave me a section that is cloth covered. I can move it around very easily and no need to fasten to walls, just lean against wall. Check out any used office supply outlets. I love it.
