i do just as you do. sometimes my eyes droop before the design is done, but the idea is saved by doing it in the night.

WE are creative people, our minds are going all day and all night. Keep paper and pencil beside your bed and draw when you think of things.

If I find my mind is running off doing something - whether it's designing quilts or fretting over a work project - the only remedy is to get up and write everything down. Once it's down on paper, my brain can turn off because I'm no longer worried about forgetting the thought. It makes an incredible difference - both in sleep, since I can finally go to sleep after spending 1/2 hour or so jotting notes; and in productivity, because my work is half-done when I get up in the morning.
