Greetings- My Mom made me a gorgeous quilt two years ago. My husband and I purchased a new mattress set today, and I just know that the quilt won't be wide enough. What can we do??? I appreciate any and all answers.

If the quilt is finished, I wouldn't alter it. Get two dust ruffles (there are some cute ones out there) that are the same. Put one between the mattress and the box spring and one on top of the bed and put the quilt on top. It will look like you meant it o look that way.

I wouldn't do anything to alter the quilt. Is that what you mean?? I would either fold and put it at the bottom of your bed or use it as a cover on the diagonal if you can. Or hang it on the wall.
    Does any of this help??

I would use a solid colored spread on the bed, and use the quilt on top of that as a decorative accent. You could try putting it on your bed "on point" and see how that looks. Or you could fold it and keep it over the foot of the bed. With a plainer, solid spread or duvet, the quilt will still be your focal point.

oh, Maria, I like your idea of the dust ruffles. I was thinking along that line, but didn't think dust ruffles. Hope I can find something in dark brown. Thank you Thank you.

Would it be possible to use some fairly plain bedding on the new bed and display the quilt by hanging it behind the headboard? Love to see a picture of the quilt. Also really like Maride's idea!

It would be cute laying across a bedroom rocker or a bedroom chair or folded on top of a cedar chest if you have one.
