    Default Diamond Jubilee Bargello

I want to make the diamond jubilee bargello quilt but not sure on fabric selection. I have one made one other bargello and that was purchased as a kit. The pattern calls for 11 different fabrics with one being the lightest and 11 the darkest. Not sure how many different colors to put in the quilt or how many lights and how many darks to buy. Any suggestions?

    Doesn't the pattern tell you?

The pattern just says one is the lightest and 11 is the darkest. No hints of how many lights and how many darks.

Do you have a particular favorite color that you want to use in the quilt? Start there, pick one fabric or two that you like the most and then find fabrics that are lighter and some that are darker. I know this is not much help. Do you like near a quilt store that you can go visit and get some help? If I lived near you, I'll happily accompany you to a fabric shop and spend your money
Also, take look here at the Bargello Quilt tag for some color inspiration.

Ok just had another thought, you can make it all in one color just different values or you can use more than one color, as you audition the bolts, set them side by side until you find a pleasing arrangement. If you have a digital camera, take photos of the fabrics and use the BW feature, it is much easier to tell the value in a black and white photo. Hope this helps you a bit.

I have made several bargellos and used one color theme in all of them. Made a blue one, green, red and I made one that was called not darker than sand. It started with the lightest beige and went darker . the quilt actually was all neutral colors, however I was bored with that one before I got done.
