I just watched the tutorial video for the tube block. In it, she says start with 2.5" strips, sew together with a 1/4" seam, press, and then sew it into a tube with a 4 1/4" strip...but if my math serves me correctly...shouldn't it be 4.5"? I haven't tried this method yet...but 2.5+2.5=5....5-1/2"(two 1/4" lost in the seam)=4.5...no?

    Please enlighten me...

Hmmm..I thought she says 4.5" too, but I guess it is 4 1/4 now that I watched it again.

We were typing at the same time, LOL. I went and watched it too.
Well, I guess that is why I always measure before I cut my strips, but I am with you, I am not sure why it wouldn't come out to 4.5.

lol Well I'm glad I'm not alone in that thought. I guess I'll stick to 4.5 (or just measure!) when I do give it a shot!

I would think that you could make it any size you want as long as both sides of the tube are the same.

I use spray starch on the tube....before cutting. This seams to help.

I saw that same video. I made the strips and it needs to be 4 1/2". So she is wrong.

For the bias, strips lift the iron to move it around rather than pushing when you press anything bias. Actually, I pretty much do that with all blocks before they are stitched together. I think spray starch would help, but don't push the iron. If they still don't behave, loosen the presser foot pressure if you can (I can't) or use your walking foot.
