I did that for a while - it' s harder than you might think. Not just
getting what YOU like, but trying to think about what will have more broad appeal. Great to see all those fabrics available, though!

I think it would be fun, at least to give it a try.

Yes. I have evolved to love small prints over the past 4 years. My most favorite people are at my local quilt shop just 12 miles away. The owner loves florals and larger prints -- it's hard for me although I stop there each time I'm at the bank. I've taken a few classes and I'm just finishing up a quilt from a class 3 years ago. Just the same -- working with the fabric and evolving I love small prints and smaller pieces. It's hard to deal with a shop I love everything about BUT don't like all the fabric.

No way. At first I thought maybe for a day it would be fun, but if what I chose didn't sell that would be bad news for the LQS. I think you would really need to be open minded about all fabrics. It's nice that you ask our opinions about fabric lines.

I'm thinking that most shops (at least the ones I've been to) wind up developing a particular style, in that they tend to lean toward a particular type of fabrics. And it probably reflects the owner's preferences. Though, in the end, it's really about satisfying the customers' taste.
I've always thought that to be true. And I am most attracted to the shops where the owners taste and mine are similar. But the differences are what demand I visit every quilt shop I get near because I always know I will see something different from the rest.
