Did you know that the vastly popular quilt pattern known as Log Cabin should really be called
    The PHARAOH'S PATH or
    THE GARDEN OF THE PHARAOH??

In the British Museum there are mummified cats wrapped in bindings with the Log Cabin pattern. I was shocked to see that,
I had in the back of my mind a picture of several women in sun bonnets in the 1880s sitting and putting pictures (more or less)
of their poor log dwellings in fabric.

Those sneaky pioneer women! Who would have thought that they'd visit the museum to get a pattern for their quilts!!! LOL

    Seriously though, that's very interesting.

I had no idea either till I was going through an old Lap Quilting book dated 1981. Since it was WAY before the Internet, have no idea how the author found this, but it sure did look to me like a log cabin pattern.
Interesting book, by Muriel Breckenridge. It has color and black/white pictures, plus some dark lines so you can trace the patterns. One I love is a Sunbonnet Sue and Overall Sam. Plus, it shows a sweet pink square pillow with SS and even has ruffles. It would be darling for a little girls' room chair.
