I love Jennifer's idea of setting your blocks on point. Something magical seems to happen when blocks rest on their tips. And not all the sashing has to be the same, although having some common element will tie the blocks together more. You have a nice assortment of blocks that will make a wonderful sampler quilt.

I was initially thinking about black, brown,or beige. Then the second picture appeared and the white there looked good. The dark gold color in the second row of the first picture looks good too. The other suggestion for the color that look like red/maroon here would be good, too.

I would suggest like others on the board: either black, brown or maroon. Love to see those colors posted on a new picture. Good Luck!

You could use a scrappy sashing or border, something like this

its a different type of block but I think you get the idea

I don't have enough of any one of these pastels to do 2-1/2" or so sashing. But maybe it should be a deep color? Or do all the horizontal sashes have to be the same color? I am just lost...

Just mulling this over. Since you have several shades of neutrals, how about a tonal that has a beige print on white or vice versa. Or if you could find it, a very light beige/off white/white tiny print? Too much light?

Would work well if she has the fabric.

The beauty of a scrappy quilt is that the sashings don't have to match. The first thing that came to mind is checkerboard sashing, using a red fabric around the blocks that have dark fabric and then dark fabric - black/navy,brown - around the red/pink blocks. Something like this:

Looking at your blocks, by switching the last 2 blocks on the first row, the red/pink blocks will alternate and this type of sashing would work.

I would also add a border so that the outside blocks have the double sashing too.

The reds/maroons appear prominent to me. I think that a red color for sashing would muddle the individual blocks. However, red cornerstones with white sashing may look nice.

I, too, would suggest black for your sashing. I think that would really make the blocks pop.
