Default Different sized Block of the Month

I belong to a group that will be using 'basket theme' as the block of the month. We can fill them with any applique we want. There will be 12 blocks (of course), but I don't want the same size blocks. I am thinking this top will be 77" x 54', then I will add borders. Do any of you have any ideas for a layout?

Try sashings around the smaller blocks or you could stagger the different sized blocks like bricks are done for walkways, etc.

I once did a quilt with a 9 inch block and a 6 inch block. I put 3 borders around the smallers blocks at 1/2 inch each. first 2 in colors and the 3rd same as the background to the larger block. This left the smaller one floating and did not clash with the design of the larger block.
