You will need one of each cut in 4 different colors per block.

I sewed the four outer (white sq, colored strip and white strip) sections together then attached them to the center square. Then I squared it up to 16 1/2".
I'm trying to wrap my head around this.

I did a light black line around where the 16" block is - is that right?

And then a did darker lines where I *think* the pieces are that make up the block, the 4 outer. Is that right?
You got it!!! I knew how I did it but found it hard to explain. Yes, what you've drawn around is one block. (I never thought to do that.) The way you did it it's much easier to see how the colors on one block intertwine with the colors on the ones around it and to see why I needed a design board. When I did it, I just sewed it together as it was cut giving me a really jagged edge. Then I squared it up to 16 1/2". I hope everyone enjoys this quilt as much a I did. Being relatively new to quilting and not knowing for sure if it was even going to work (at first) it makes me feel so good to know that so many of you have liked this quilt top.

I found the pattern here, Raptureready just used same colors for interlocking squares. Love it!

Yes, this is the same pattern. However, I don't know what their dimensions are. I just didn't like their colors so I used my own and I wanted mine for form actual frames. I guess theirs does too but I just wanted my brighter and one color combo per frame. :-) :-D :-)

    Beautiful! Thanks so much.
The really interesting part of this quilt is that it's scrappy. I've got LOTS of scraps. LOL
