    Thank you all for the lovely comments. i just tallied up on who liked 1 or 2 and so far its a TIE...but i think im going to go with #2

    I like the 2nd 1 best. There is a block in the second row toward the right of the layout that needs
    to be turned.

    The second one gives the impression that you've done more work because the cream squares are separated. I made two quilts set like the second one, but not on point. The first one was so well liked by my adult son that he wanted me to make him the same pattern, so I did. Maybe you might like to consider laying your lights and darks in lines of color rather than evenly distributed? :-)

    With the second one, where the cream squares would be all sewn together, a person who doesn't know the D4P pattern might wonder why you cut and sewed the 4 cream pieces, instead of making that just one piece. That large area would be nice for a cute quilting motif though. The first one reminds me of an argyle sweater.

    I like the top choice best. They are both very lovely, but the second one is a bit busy looking for me.
