Discovered a clever way to cut those 4 patches to turn them into the disappearing 4 patch. I got my 3 inch ruler, lined it up the middle, cut on either side and then rotated a quarter turn and cut the opposite direction on each side. Sure cuts down on the cutting time.

I just checked this tutorial, looks like you use 5in blocks, four sewn together, then measure in 3 inches on each side & cut, then rotate, till you have done all four sides. The tute just says, measure 1.5 in. out from the center seams, all four sides, so same thing, really. Just do whichever seems easier, right! I like this idea though, all these neat blocks, made simple, with no templates, yeah!

This tute is what I used, except I laid my 3 inch ruler down the center instead of measuring 1 1/2 inches from the center on each cut. Hope this explains how I do it.
