This was my D9P. I used about 11 different fat quarters that I felt looked good together. I had a lot of material left over, in fact first I made a tote with the fats, then liked it so much I made the quilt.

    a 15inch(finished) block would be made from a nine-patch of 5 1/2 inch squares.

edit: oops, sorry, looks like this question was already answered.

I experimented with some numbers and I'm using a 18 1/2" finished 9 patch. Then I cut, swap and sew. When completed I have a twin top.....which I'm sure my DS will love. It's either going to be Thomas or CARS...whichever I can find.

gcathie - your two quilts are gorgeous - as always. I'm going nutz
trying to count the different fabrics that you used. The pastel was
easy to count - the multicolored - not so easy.

Sandybeach - your quilt is beautiful too.

That's it - I'm jumping in too! What could go wrong, right? or wrong?

I am making a disappearing 9 patch for my friend. Since I am handsewing it, quilting line goes just diagonally with three straight lines. How is everyone working on the quilting lines? Stipples?

youme, do you mean you hand pieced it? or you are hand quilting it? I can't imagine making this pattern with hand piecing because you slice through the stitching, but maybe you could find a way.

Yes, I hand pieced it and hand quilting. I sewed it with very tiny stitches and cut it with rotally cutter. Let me show you my disappearing nine patch quilt when it all done.

Bev, it's really easy. I've made a couple.
Just make your 9 patch, then cut it in half, then in half again. Then arrange the blocks to where you like them the best!
    Easy, peasy!
