Sounds like a great way to showcase the fabric. Try a block and post it for us.

I have a whole stack of 9 patches made with 6" blocks ... I didn't know what to do with them so they have been just sitting there. Then I got on this board and got the idea of a D9P. I haven't gotten around to trying it yet but that's my plan...

A gal in one of my guilds did a 6" one, not good, really loses its effectiveness.
She's making another in 5" with the same fabric.

I'm doing it in 4" and 5", like them both
They're both scrap quilts with the center square the same in all of the 9-patches to provide some unity.

My quilt group is going to the beach over Columbus Day weekend, and our challenge is to bring 12 blocks made from 5" squares (9 patch scraps from our stash). Then we are going to throw them into a big pile and grab 12 blocks out and make a beach snuggle quilt that we will bring every year. I am going to put white Minkie on the back of mine and make it a true snuggle quilt. When we get the blocks , we can cut them any way we want. 4 triangles, 4 squares, off sided cuts, strips, what ever! Should be fun. I have 4 blocks finished.
