I just finished a quilt with fabrics that were all part of a collection. It looks alright but it's very busy for my tastes. I was making for a neighbor that is suppose to leave for the Mayo Clinic on Sept. 12th for a stem cell transplant. I didn't have time to make any changes so I just finished it. It did look a little better after I quilted it. I would just finish it and save it for sometime you need a quilt ASAP. I don't think it looks bad but I get where you are coming from. Have you tried laying it out in rows rather then on point or try adding some lattice. Good luck.

yes I have just finished one today and took it to the long arm quilter in our area and the more I worked on it and took it apart and back together and the directions where not well written and just enough material nothing to spare if you made a wrong cut you would be out of luck.
I do like the first layout beats GG

Here's what I think, take it or leave it... Put this away in a cupboard for another time and start something else. This is supposed to be fun, if you press on with something you hate you might get so depondent you just give up quilting entirely and that would be a crying shame. It's only fabric, your creative soul is more important. Perhaps one day you'll drag it out again and reuse the fabric for something else, or piece it together and practice FMQ on it or even, fall in love with it. Our tastes often change as we progress. But don't use it as a stick to beat yourself with. Move on. :-D

Thanks Tanya but I saw earlier that she'd posted a new topic and actually fixed this! Good for her, you know what I would have done! http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-152214-1.htm

I think the first picure is lovely. Myself, I would put a 2-1/2" dark border either the burgandy or another dark color, then a border of the light fabric. Hope you post pictures

I've done this a couple of times. Put it away, finish later and then you just might fall in love with it all over again! Ask me how I know!

Personally I like the looks of your quilt and I like your colors
you put together. Just go ahead and finish it and I know you will love it.
