That's why I have several projects in various states of completeness. With my rather short attention span, I often need to put bigger projects aside for a time and return later. As far as the colors, I personally prefer the darker, because it really makes the edges pop. Keep quilting.

Personally I think it is very pretty. You could go ahead and finish it, to get the practice then donate it. I am sure someone would absolutely love it.

I have a quilt that I just didn't like. But I pushed through it, got it quilted and then I did the binding and now I like it.

I would put that magenta around the whole outside! Love it! I think your quilt is great! Is there going to be an outside border? What is it going to be?

The first lay out is safe and traditional. The second one is WOW POP ZAM. I also think, without seeing it, that the brown border will go great with the magenta!

I think you are doing fine and on the right track. If you can ask yourself questions and make choices through the process while working on it your doing great!

I like the first one better. You might feel differently once you add a couple of borders to it. That can make all the difference in the world. I just finished a top that I felt the same way about. I thought the one I did was very blah (it was a kit). I had extra from the back, so I added that as borders and it does make a big difference. Maybe if you lay some fabrics out with it you will feel differently. If not, put it aside and go back to it another day. You can always donate it if you still don't like it.

I think its stunning, I like the first one best. Mostly I get disappointed in my sewing -- not the quilt itself!! I tend to have a 'get it done' attitude once I have started..

Yes, I too have had an ugly haunting me. Just couldn't love it. And I even hauled it through two moves. Well, last week I looked at it again, still didn't love it and didn't love it enough to even finish it to donate. So I put it in a plastic trash bag, walked it to the dumpster and put it in. Walked away with such a weight off my shoulders. Didn't realize how that quilt had been weighing me down. Love my sewing room now that the quilt is not lurking in there.

I think the dark fabric overwhelms the other lovely fabrics.If you could replace the dark, I'd keep the yellow. But that's just my opinion & it's your quilt.Good luck with whatever you decide.

Love the top. IMHO, I don't like the picture with the "redish purple." Red and green are complementary colors on the color wheel, but your lovely greens have a lot of yellow and is a nice "warm" tone. Your reddish purple has blue in it an seems from the computer to read as a "cool" color. If you used something more along the line of a darker peach on the color wheel over to a warmer red, you will see a big difference. The one thing I think is nice is the all green seems to float and is beautifully harmoneous - called analygous. If you add the other color, your eyes will be drawn there and it will distract from the analygous web you have created. I would suggest the dark red as an inner, first binding before a similar greenish border.

Regarding being stuck....I have 2-3 projects always going at once. I wake up and see which one I feel motivated to work on each day. You WILL get sick of it otherwise and be stiffled. Or, if you have a quilting budy or belong to a guild, you can show it to them and ask suggestions. If all else fails, put it neatly away for a week and put your energy in something new. Bring it back out and it will speak to you in a new way.
