I used to keep diaper pins in a bar of soap to make them go through the diapers smoothly. I started doing this with some of my pins too.

I purchased some pins a few weeks back that appeared to have no point. I don't recall the brand but I was so upset that I just immediately trashed them. It never entered my mind to take them back. What a waste of my money.

I just hate pins that feel like I'm driving nails through my beautiful fabrics... when I get a bad pin or box ( people like to give me them as gifts) I toss them , its not worth keeping them.

I bought 3 different pins, cheap store brand, yellow round top, and smaller multi-colored.
the cheap pins were longer than I wanted but turned out to be the best. The yellow quilt pins were the same as
I had purchased 2 yrs. ago. The smaller multi-colored were bad - almost every other needle bend badly as I tried (m I bought these more than a yr. ago).
to put in into 100% cotton. It not heavy fabric at all. I was telling a friend about it, he said do you know how much
metal has gone up. Think of gold it over the years, they thin it down, 22 carrot, 12 carrot & now10 carrot.
It the same with metal. That made alot of sense to me. I wonder if we will be looking for vintage pins next.
Like vintge fabric is still 44 -45 and not 42-23, etc.

I think it is the change in the metal. A friend told me as I had bought several pins to find one that would not bend
on cotton (thin fabric). It is like gold- it use to be 22 ct. then they made 12 ct. and now 10ct. Metal as gold has really increased in price and gone down in metal - like being watered down. We may need to look for vintage pins
soon with more metal content so they are stronger and sharper.

Not on topic of pins - narrower fabric (less than 45 inches) has also been around for a long time.

I have some that I absolutley love but I cannot find them either... they were moms and Ive tried to 'replace' them but to no avail.... However I did find Clover (blue fine quilting Pins) at joannes that were awesome.. Kinda pricy for 20 pins but with a coupon its worth to me to have long thin quilting pins i like and I can work with..

I tried the F&P and found them to be cheap junk...I tried the Collins pins, flowers in different colors..same thing..junk....the Yellow flowers are always so nice and sharp...I also got some of the "pink" ones...also by Collins and also junk...
I refuse to spend my time PUSHING pins into fabric..they should always GLIDE in like they LOVE the fabric..hehehe
I have not tried the BOHIN pins..have any of you?

I'm thinking yes this is true but those pins would not be packaged as a "Fons & Porter " product, they would be labeled under a different brand name. F & P products would have its own standard.

Ask me how disappointed I was in the F & P quilting gloves, stretched out, washed them and they completly lost thier shape.
The ones I use now I bought in the tool area of Dollar Tree. F & P is not owned by F & P, they sold out a few years ago and get a $ as figureheads I believe.
