Disappointed in a good brand name fabric
I ordered a layer cake from Maywood Studios. I have used Maywood fabric before and never thought it would be different. The fabric is thin and flimsy. No body to it at all. Makes me so sad,

I'm somewhat worried about the future in fabrics. My niece-in-law works in the apparel industry, sourcing raw materials for her company. She said in about 5-6 months we're going to see massive shortages on ready-to-wear clothing racks. I don't know if that goes for bolted quilting cottons also, but it wouldn't surprise me.

This is one reason that I put 'working from my stash' on hold. I have been buying a lot of fabric for multiple projects these past few weeks. I want to be able to ride out the higher prices and shortages.
I just got some Maywood fabric and it was the same as I have bought before on the quality. Perhaps the one you got was just an off batch

I occassionally order Maywood Studio fabric and have never had a problem with it. As someone said, lets hope this is not the start of something new! I do believe tha majority of what I order online has been from Moda. Love the quality of Moda.

Could it be that the fabric is cotton lawn? It has a higher thread count and is very good quality, but is thinner than quilter's cotton. I've encountered it occasionally online and in quilt shops, but it's *usually* identified as lawn.
