    I am the liason Of the Needlers, we Volunteer our time to make comfort pillows to person who have had surgery, and they too have requested RWB for out soldiers and veterans that come in. We have a speceial stash just for them and Holidays, Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day.
    I do believe RWB is a favorite of many.

    Popular with the recipients - many quilters would prefer to use florals. given a choice, the recipients take RWB 8 out 10 with one other being outdoorsy/hunting related.

    I read here on this board that some soldiers don't use the quilts becasue they feel they resemble a flag too closely, and to use it to wrap up with or sit on would be disrespectful. Is that the case, or not necessarily. Thanks!

    It isn't that I don't support QOV and other organizations but I question whether so many quilts are needed. I have seen pictures of the military hospital in Germany where quilts are piled up in the hall.

    There are other facilities who say they can't get enough in...I think it's matter of logistics. It's difficult to get them exactly where they are needed.

    Or to look at it differently, isn't it nice that they aren't needed? Does that mean they don't many wounded?

    Again, a rumor, not fact. The quilt should NOT be areal flag, but they are proud of their country and you should see them wrap themselves in the quilts - literaly. We just presented 9 quilts to vets - one from the Korean conflict, one a 24 year now retired Navy wave, 3 Viet Nam, 2 Desert Storm, 1 Panama Canal, 1 bomb disposal. Each one had tears in their eyes and could hardly speak. Each slept with their quilt that night.

    We often try to attach meaning that isn't there - we don't want to offend so are overly careful. Thanks for thinking ahead.
