    The home improvement stores carry several types of foam insulation boards. The white styrofoam board crumbles too easily.

    I have written up how I made both my design walls with their pictures, names of the products used, etc. here, if that helps:

    For a quicky design wall I used a curtain rod and a flannel backed tablecloth. Put a couple of nails in wall and hung the rod over them. Pinned the table cloth over the rod with straight pins.

    I read somewhere that the quilter used a retractable roller shade and attached flannel. When she needed to use the design wall, she pulled down the shade (I think it hung on a wall).

    Just don't know how sturdy that method is.

    a 4_8 cut in half then wrap in contact paper
    endup with a 4 by 4 square thats portable
    at any hardware store
