    Default DNP size

I was wondering that size square most were using to start off your 9 patch. I'm thinking I want to do one in Christmas fabrics.Queen or King, so I'm thinking pretty big but not to big so the 'scrappy' gets muddled

I think this pattern came about due to the 5" charm squares. I made this backing for a bargello table runner and I used cut 6.5" squares

I don't like anything smaller than 5" as the squares are just too small when quartered and stitched back together. I use the D9P as a way to use up assorted scraps and small yardage and I usually cut mine 6" or 6 1/2" as I have rulers just those sizes. It's all about how small you want those little squares to be.

Thanks for posting this, and for the chart. I've been googling like crazy to answer this very same question. :-)

I usually make large D9P blocks starting with 6" strips and the finished block is 16". This size makes a fast charity quilt.
