Do any of you ever use a light box ?

I've done that, something similar actually. I used to have a glass topped table & would put a flashlight under it to trace stuff. It worked great. Unfortunately when we moved I no longer had room for the table & got rid of it. I miss it for that feature.

I have used light boxes for some time now for quilting and art work. Years ago I had a big light table big enough to lay a quilt out on it and I really miss it. Those tables are very exspensive but I got it used for $100.00. I am thinking of making a mid sized one that I can fold down and put away. My hubby suggested instead of using light bulbs under it just buy those high power spot lights.

When I first started doing redwork, I needed a light box. I found a old scanner took out the guts and put a light in there. I now have a light box I can take anywhere works like a charm and was inexpensive. The only thing I had to buy was the light as I didn't have one of those and found a cheap one. Hope this helps. Its better than a window.

Yes I do and use it fairly often. I had a slide sorter table and my husband replaced the tray that held the slides with a piece of Plexiglas - we glued a bottom rail on that and I can use binder clips to hold my patterns in place at the top or sides. It really works great!
