Do buy quilt kits?

i have never and don't see myself buying any in the future.
the best part of quilting for me is coming up with the design and selecting all the fabrics.
a kit robs me of all that creative enjoyment.

I have only bought one and had it three years. Finally needed batiks for another quilt entirely and used the ones from the kit in another pattern. It turned out beautifully anyhow and I was able to add other batiks to the ones from the kit and make a larger quilt.

I tried them a couple of times, they seemed to small when done. Also, I was shorted on material once, which didn't make me happy. Once the pattern was wrong on measurements. Again not happy. I really like to do my own anyway. I love the scrappies and the freedom of putting toether my own.

Like to buy quilt kits in designs and fabrics I like. Often times will make the quilt again with stash fabrics. My daughter recently attacked by stash - quilts and fabrics - and has started her Christmas presents. College girl on a tight budget - "wow. I can make all this stuff for free." Of course it is a good reason to replenish my stash.

I'm doing the Jinny Beyer Moon Glow kit through a BOM out of a shop in Texas. It's a skill building quilt for an intermediate quilter. So far I have three blocks completed and two in the "on deck circle". I get so excited when I get one finished, but need multiple hours to complete a block since I'm learning new techniques. I love the colors and would never have been able to pick them all out myself. Love it!
