Hi,

I have some large scraps of batting that I keep because I think I might be able to join them all up when I have enough of them but I'm not even sure if you can do this and if you can how do you do it?

the easiest way is to use the new "batting tape". Available at Hancock's or Connecting Threads, just about any quilt type place. Around $7 a roll.

Or place the pieces together and zig zag with the biggest stitch you can do.

I keep them all.....so far have been able to use most of the larger ones and pieced a couple of smaller ones together....works quite well with the tape or sewing, have done both....i absolutely refuse to throw anything usable like that away!

I keep them all as long as they are more than 3"wide. I am being overrun by batting scraps!!!

I save my scraps if at least 2-3 feet wide. I also use them in table trivits along with insul-brite. I join them together with Heat Press Batting Together. I use a press cloth to make sure nothing melts. That way takes a little steam and a bit longer than directed. http://heatpressbattingtogether.com/

I keep all my batting scraps and if they are really small, I use them for Xmas tree ornaments or extra padding behine an applique motif-you just never know when a scrap will be handy. Larger pieces i have joined together and used for larger quilts. I am probably one of the most thrifty quilters around-and always looking for ways to "re-purpose" everything from empty plastic strawberry containers and the like to empty paper towel rolls! In Vanuatu, since you couldn't get much stuff you needed, and what you could get was either really expensive or just plain really cheap quality. Besides, I paid for every inch of that batting, so I plan to use it! How's that for cheap!!

I use the leftovers for craft project, smaller quilts, use the press tape and sometimes stitch them together. Also use them to dust, works great.

I do. I zig zag smaller pieces together.

I save anything bigger than a 2 inch strip. For most battings I just but the edges and use a wide large zig zag stitch. For the poly battings , sometimes the foot get caught in the batting, I will use a skinny piece( 1/2 inch) of tissue paper over the area the foot is riding on . Then either pull it off or .. I have been known to leave in in depending on the project.

The batting tape is great, it is very light weight, holds well, and you can use up all that extra batting!
