I usually machine stitch the back and hand stitch the front, but I have been known to hand stitch both or machine stitch both.

Me too! I can sit in front of TV, hand sew, and feel good because I'm almost done!!

I machine sew it to the front, then turn the binding and hand stitch to the back. I don't love the hand stitching party, but I like the look of it that way enough that I do it.

Depends on the quilt. If it's a special one I hand sew the back. If it's a kids quilt ( what I call a drag-around) or a charity one I machine th whole thing.

I definitely put my binding on the back with my machine, bring it to the front and top stitch or fancy stitch it down. I've never yet had anyone question me as to why the binding is not hand sewn. My quilts all seem to get a lot of use and are washed quite often so I figure a machine binding will wear much better.

Machine stitching all the way for me as my quilts are given away and need to be stitched securely. Next quilt I plan to use the Elmers school glue to keep the binding in place.

I sew all of my binding by machine. I like a double fold straight grain binding. I sew it to the back first, turn it over to the front of the quilt and straight stitch it down by machine.

I've done both, but I seem to prefer to hand binding.
