Do most of you hand bind or machine bind your binding

I machine stitch to the front, hand stitch on the back. I used to hand quilt all of my quilts, but I don't have time for that any more, so sitting and hand stitching the binding while watching TV is relaxing and like other have said, it give me a chance to have a last cuddle with a quilt that I have spent so much time on. In fact, right now - I read a little here, make a few stitches on a binding and then read a little more!

It all depends. When I first started mom taught me to fold over the backing. Then, after reading people opinions from this board and YouTube videos, I started to hand sew the binding to the back. Unless it a charity or a quilt that will get washed often then I will sew with machine all the way.

I love to hand stitch the binding. It is relaxing and just fun. However, I have not stitched the binding on a quilt for a long time. My mom, now 89, loves to stitch the binding as much as I do, and can hardly wait to receive the two quilts that are all ready to go when I visit her this Easter weekend. Mom has trouble threading the needles now, so I thread as many needles as she will need (usually extras), and thread them through a piece of fabric. When she needs another length of thread all she needs to do is pull it out, knot it and away she goes. Maybe she can't thread the needle, but her stitches are still just perfect. Can't wait to see her smile when she gets her latest project. She'll have them both done in no time and will be awaiting more. As long as she wants to do it, it's good with me.

I hand sititch every single quilt binding. I have sat watching TV each night this week hand stitching my binding on two quilts, it looks great. However I am going to try sewing it on the machine. I did it once on a baby quilt and was so ashamed of myself, I have never did it again. I think now I know better how to do it pretty. I still will not do it on a really good quilt, even though the quilts I make are all machine sewed. It's very odd though that I have many vintage quilts that are completely hand pieced and hand quilted with a machine sewed binding.

I'm going to be a person, that will machine, my binding's on. Maybe you can explain to me(just jokeing). Why is it I can sit from morning till night, and hand quilt. But to sit and sew a binding by hand--cant handle doing that.--WHY
