Same here. Machine on to the front and hand stitch on to the back.

I like handsewing mine to the back (machine sew first to front). But then again I like some handwork. Plus I like the look better and have never been able to machine sew a binding on straight.

Like many others, I sew it to the front by machine, flip it and sew the back down by hand. I find it relaxing and love that part of quilting. But....either way is fine and don't let anyone tell you any different.

Since my sewing machine broke I have been using my old Singer to do my sewing on. I know that there was a binding attachment for those machines as my Mom had one and they worked really good. Can't afford it now but going to go looking for one.

I've tried to do it on the machine, but just can't get it to please me. I enjoy hand stitching anyway, but am always so anxious at that point to get it done.

I do binding by machine except on an occasional small object.

I do most of mine by machine anymore - carpal tunnel makes my hand fall asleep when I do hand stitching (very annoying!). I found this really cool binding foot that works great.

I machine stitch to the front and hand stitch down on the back. I only do the decorative stitch to the front method if I am doing a very simple charity quilt or something. Even then, I prefer to hand bind.
