i rarely bury the thread tails.
i either use the machine lock stitch or do reinforcing back and forth stitching.
then i clip them close to the back.
sometimes i will put a dab of glue on the knot for extra insurance.
(that's mostly for psychological reasons. i haven't yet had anything come loose.)

No, I do not bury the threads. I do the tiny stitches in place and clip close. But, I don't enter quilts in judged shows!

If I know the quilt will be washed a lot - for a baby usually, I even backstitch (gasp!) in spots where it doesn't show.

Same as Tartan. I took a FMQ class with Leah Day about 6 years ago and have done it ever since. I try to start at the edge and finish at the edge to minimize the tying.

Those easy thread needles come in handy. That's what I used to bury threads in the 2 quilts I mentioned above.

I back stitch or use the lock stitch button. I did bury threads on one quilt that I quilted on my embroidery machine. Lots of hoopings meant lots of threads. It's not fun work.

I was given a table runner in swap. The threads were buried but after a few washings the quilting started to come loose. The buried threads had worked out. The were not knotted before burying. I had to redo the thread ends. I didn't mind because I liked the runner. I told the giver about it and she got upset.. Said I shouldn't have washed it in washing machine. I only told her so she would know about the problem but apparently she didn't want to know. LOL

Yes I do, it is not hard and I like the self threading needles to do it with. Makes it a snap.

Did it once, never did it again.

I do tiny stitches and clip close.

I tie a knot and bury the thread ends but that is because it is the technique that I learned reading or watching another quilter. I think on the next project that I keep, I might try the locking stitch or tiny stitches. Knotting and burying threads isn’t exactly my favorite part of the process.
