I always dry iron while piecing my blocks, then spritz the finished blocks and finished tops with water from a spray bottle then press again. I don't put water in my irons if I can avoid it. Drives my hubby batty! (He presses his own clothes)

Never used starch, but considering trying it on my next finished top before loading it into my frame.

I remember damping all our ironing as a kid. The coke bottle with a perforated top.. Guess that ages me!!

I had been using steam, but, after reading many posts on this subject, I went to dry iron with a squirt bottle of water

Been using steam but after reading all your comments I may go back to dry and a spray bottle . I bought a Niagara Non-aerosol spray starch and do not like it as it leaves lots of 'stuff' on my cloth. Thanks for all the neat info you gals post.

I found that steam will miss shape your quilt pieces. the dry iron ,with starch or light spray works much better.
the starch I like better than water.
